What is Masterbatch?

Plastic does not start with color. The color you are looking to make requires additives or pigments to get the desired color. Masterbatch is the additive. It comes in Black, White and colors. These different color additives are combined to create the desired color. Marval can combine these additives to create the colors that will give your product the shelf appeal and functionality your product needs.

Color Masterbatch

We have 100’s and 100’s of white and black masterbatch formulas. Some with electrical conductivity or UV resistance. These formulas can include a high pigment loading.

Masterbatch http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/masterbatch A solid product (normally of plastic, rubber, or elastomer) in which pigments or additives are optimally dispersed at high concentration in a carrier material. The carrier material is compatible with the main plastic in which it will be blended during molding, whereby the final plastic product obtains the color or properties from the masterbatch.

There are 2 types of masterbatch

  1. Color Masterbatch:  is used to add color to the plastic. By blending different color additives you achieve the desired color.  By blending the colors you can create special effects to help make your product stand out.
  2. Additive Masterbatch:  is used to give other properties to the plastic. These proerties include the texture of the plastic.
