Color Compounding and Pigmented Color

Depending on the industry where you work, you may find the need to color a tank. There are three ways to do this. The first is to paint the polyethylene tank. Compounded color and pigmented color are the two other options.

If you are painting multiple tanks and would like them to be the same color, color compounding is the better choice. With color pigmenting, you add dry pigment to existing resin material. This method makes it difficult to achieve the same color throughout.

Because there are fewer steps to follow when resin is colored through compounding it will cost businesses less money. Dry color pigments have a tendency to stain the molds. Cleaning and removing stains from the molds can be costly. Compounding colors does not produce the same amount of staining.

Color Compounding, Specialty CompoundingCompounded color and pigmented color will have a different low-temperature impact test. The temperature impact test was designed to measure the integrity of the plastic. The test measures the cure time and correctness of the plastic.

Color pigment has been used for a long time in many industries. However, in recent years complications have been discovered with this method. Because of this, compounding color has gained popularity. Color compounds use pure resin which results in uniformity of color.
